RSS:FROM ORGANISATION TO POLITICS

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is a right wing ,Hindu nationalist organisation.RSS was founded on 27 september 1925,and declared a commitment to selfless service to India.The organisation is the world's largest voluntary missionary organisation.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh

The initial momentum of RSS was to unite the Hindu community to form a Hindu Rashtra.The organisation encourage Indian culture and promotes the ideology of HINDUTVA to strengthen the majority Hindu community.

RSS was founded in 1925 by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar.Keshav Baliram was a social activist in Nagpur.He believed that handful of british were able to rule because Hindus were disunited.

THE RSS was banned once during british rule and thrice after post independence -first in 1948 when Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by a RSS member then during the emergency (1975-1977) and after demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992.

During world war II ,RSS leaders openly admired Adolf Hitler and were inspired from Adolf Hitler's ideology of racial purity. RSS rejected gandhi's wish to cooperate with muslims.During partition RSS helped Hindus refugees in west punjab. RSS was blamed for playing active role in communal violence in north India.

RSS blamed Gandhi,Nehru,Patel for their lack of experience which resulted partition and held them responsible for the mass killings.

RSS AND POLITICS

from 1950s to 1970s many politicians and Hindu nationalist believed than sangh should take part in politics but they failed to do so.After the Bharatiya Jana Sangh started making alliances and finally merged itself to 1972 to form Bharatiya Janata Party.The success of BJP in 1977 election made RSS member central minister for the first time and from their RSS played active role in politics by remaining behind the curtains.

After the end of Vajpayee's tenure in 2004 ,BJP remained as major opposition for 10 years .BJP gained an overwhelming majority in 2014 general election with MODI a former RSS member.Voters dissatisfaction with the congress as well as support of RSS helped success in 2014 election.

RSS has been always involved in relief efforts during -1971 Orissa cyclone

-1977Andhra Pradesh cyclone

-1984 Bhopal Disaster

-2001 Gujrat earthquack

-2013 uttrakhand flood

in all these situations RSS provided shelters,food,clothes ect to the victims.

RSS also took care of victims of Kargil War.

RSS is also been accused of conspiring many communal riots.Christian groups accuse the RSS for participation in the 2008 religious violence in Odisha.RSS is also been accused of many riots like Gujrat violence which was erupted after the Godhra train burning and the involvement in the Babri Masjid demolition.
