Bharatiya Janata Party surged ahead of the Manik Sarkar led Left party (CPM), putting an end to Left's 25 year of rule. BJP along with Indigenous people's front of tripura (IPFT) has managed to won 43 seats out of 60 seats, while Left managed to won only 16 and Congress were not able to open their tally.
In Nagaland, the BJP and NDPP alliance has won 29 seats and with the support of JD(U) and an Independent candidate, BJP+NDPP alliance is set to form government in Nagaland.
In Meghalaya, the mandate was showing hung assembly. although Congress being largest party with 21 seats are not been able to form government in Meghalaya. The BJP-NPP set to rule Meghalaya with Conrad Sangma to be Chief Minister.
March 3,2018 will be recorded in the history books of BJP as they demolished the Red baston of the Northeast. On this day the Left who ruled Tripura for more than 2 decades ended after a terrible battle between two opposing ideologies-Communism and HINDUTVA.
The Left in Tripura has failed to feel the pulse of the people.Tripura has good literacy and sex ratio with 87.8% literacy rate it stand on the 5th most literate state in India. However poverty and unemployment has been a major issue in the development. Tripura has highest unemployment rate --19.7% as compared to national average of 4.9%. Also CPM failed to read the aspiration of women and the youth. At the same time, revival of tribal movement for a separate Twipraland, proved to be big spoiler.
The slogan "CHALO PALTAII" meaning let's go for a change worked for BJP and many senior opposition leaders joined hand with BJP before election which helped BJP to gain ground in Tripura. on December 22,2017 all the Congress sitting 8 MLA were carrying BJP flag worked as moral boster of BJP workers. Also the opposition were not able to counter Yogi Adityanath campaigning and often have no answer to this type of fine strategy.

Now ,as CPM is only Left in Kerala, their full concern in Tripura will be to repeat the presence of Dashrath Dev, who just after five year of ousting of power in 1998, the CPM under his leadership made a drastic return to power in Tripura.
While BJP will be looking to fulfill their manifesto and make the grip tighter on the north eastern states.
